Technology is advancing our way of life in every aspect, especially in business! Honestly, I don’t know what I did before Uber Eats. Everything automated, populated and run of an algorithm of some kind that makes what we do a little easier. Recruitment is no different!
There are so many smart technologies in the recruitment space that help you find the candidate you’re looking for. Too many advertising options, social media, weird systems that search words in resumes. But it is a double-edged sword, and it is making recruiters lazy!
It’s very easy to hide behind the screen, place an ad on several different platforms, cross your fingers and hope an algorithm will find you “the one”. And 9 times out of 10 it might work in the short-term. You can always find an Accountant to be an Accountant. But is this type of recruitment producing amazing outcomes for the future? That is a firm no.
Finding the perfect candidate is an art form, because it is not just about assessing experience. It is about understanding the business to a point that you know its goals, its future plan, its strengths and weaknesses and finding talented human beings who can be a part of that whole journey, not plug an immediate hole!
A computer system can’t tell you whether a candidate is aligned with the culture you have worked so tirelessly to create, if they are capable of taking your business to the next level, and agile enough to move through the peaks and troughs of business performance. These special outcomes occur when a trained professional delivers a balanced and thorough Recruitment strategy.
Don’t get me wrong, using these technologies are an essential way to save time and play a role in a good recruitment process. However, they should never be the one and only weapon in in finding the perfect candidate.
Find a recruiter that understands the true art of recruitment! At least until an app is created to negotiate salary, do thorough reference checks and accurately forecast your cash flow!
